Resistin is a cystein-rich protein of 11,3kDa consisting of 92 amino acids. Resistin expression was detected in different tissues like bone marrow, lung, pre-adipocytes, macrophages and islets of Langerhans.
A resistin receptor and potential singnalling is not known. Resistin could be involved in the differentiation / proliferation of adipocytes as well as in endothelial inflammation. A new role of resistin as biomarker in cancer is discussed in literature.
Mediagnost offers an validated test system for the evaluation of resistin as biomarker. An overview of major assay characteristics is given in the table below. More detailed information is available in the package insert and for special requirements or questions please contact us directly by email or phone.
