Growth Hormone and IGF
Insulin-like growth factors (IGF)-I und-II are of major relevance in the regulation of proliferation, differentiation and other specific functions of different cell types. Molecular weight of IGF-I is about 7649 Dalton and its expression is mainly regulated by human Growth Hormone, but in specific tissues also other tropic hormones and peptid growth factors influence IGF-I synthesis. In contrast with other peptide hormones the IGFs are bound by specific binding proteins with high affinity.
Fat cells are more than an energy storage device of the human body. The adipose tissue is more of an active endocrine organ, secreting hormones which influence and regulate food intake and metabolism in multiple ways. These endocrine feedback loops can be disturbed or disrupted by obesity and thus result in the development of diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular disorders or cancer. Mediagnost offers test systems for the quantiative measurement of Leptin and Adiponectin as well as for several other adipokines like Resistin, Vaspin, Chemerin and Progranulin.
Mediagnost develops, produces and distributes endocrine test systems for clinical and research application. Especially for research purposes Mediagnost offers test systems with cross reactivity to animal hormones and special animal specific tests for the measurement of Adiponectin, IGF-I, IGFBP-2, IGFBP-3, Leptin und Growth Hormone in mouse and rat samples.
