Growth Hormone and IGF
Insulin-like growth factors (IGF)-I und-II are of major relevance in the regulation of proliferation, differentiation and other specific functions of different cell types. Molecular weight of IGF-I is about 7649 Dalton and its expression is mainly regulated by human Growth Hormone, but in specific tissues also other tropic hormones and peptid growth factors influence IGF-I synthesis. In contrast with other peptide hormones the IGFs are bound by specific binding proteins with high affinity.
